Artists Book, Punch and Judy based on the traditional puppet show and the opera first performed 1967 by Harrison Birtwistle who said that there was no point in the Punch narrative(s) unless Punch’s character experiences redemption for his behaviour which in his opera is presented as Punch’s love for Pretty Polly.
